Responsibilities:

Scope of role
A Technical Architect within TIBCO’s Professional Services Group is actively involved in a broad spectrum of activities including practice development, team participation, and relationship building. He or she possesses a strong service orientation and finds challenge in problem-solving complex situations. Customer success is a motivating goal.

He or she is exceptionally knowledgeable about a specific set of TIBCO products and their supporting technologies and often functions as the primary technology contact, communicating frequently about schedules, deliverables, and risk. A Principal Consultant performs at an expert level in the implementation of all TIBCO products. He or she will apply best practices in developing solutions to address critical business issues and enterprise level design matters.

Deliverables
The Technical Architect performs enterprise integration planning activities: specifically review and provides recommendations relating to customers’ business integration vision, provides input to Centre of Competency definition and roll-out, develops the high level architecture and best practices, standards and reusable components that comprise an effective enterprise integration framework.

Key responsibilities are:

  • Works with the Business Process Consultant to ensure that process and other business requirements are accurately captured.
  • Develops/verifies and documents the architecture design.
  • Ensures that all technical and business requirements are being met
  • Defines/ refines technical architecture, best practices, standards and strategy.
  • Evaluates/ advises on vendor/ consultant selection
  • Evaluates/ advises on infrastructure components.
  • Develops the production transition plan
  • Markets/ communicates the technical architecture
  • Ensures that architecture and design is implemented correctly and effectively.
  • Prepares integration and functional test plans in conjunction with business analyst and technical team lead
  • Proves input into project planning
  • Co-manages the technical scope/ change management
  • Assists in the definition of work packages where needed
  • Provides estimates/ re-estimates where needed
  • Assists in the assignment of technical work
  • Provides weekly status (to include technical issues and risks) to the Project Manager
  • Supports the PSG Regional Director and/ or Practice Manager in pre-sales activities as required
  • Identifies up-sell opportunities, funnelling to Program/ Project Manager to act upon.

Context
Travel is a major component of this role (75-100%) with travel to client sites within the region (both domestic and international travel). In addition travel may be required internationally to participate in team projects and initiatives.

In the event that the role holder is selected for deployment on a Financial Services Authority (FSA) regulated customer site, with associated access to that customer’s systems and information, it is a requirement that the role holder pass security screening checks prior to deployment. These checks include credit referencing checks and basic criminal record disclosure checks.

Qualifications:

Technical Skills

  • Minimum 6-8 years IT Projects experience including a minimum of 2 years of EAI architecture experience
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership of entire project team
  • Demonstrated ability to make appropriate project-level scoping and prioritisation decisions
  • Strong software development and design skills using integration technology
  • Demonstrated expert level understanding of TIBCO technology
  • Certified in the installation, configuration and implementation of PortalBuilder and B2B solutions. For newly hired consultants this would be required within 60-90 days.
  • Demonstrated expert level skills in system performance analysis and capacity planning
  • Solid understanding of operational aspects of TIBCO solutions and the correct handling of operational issues or migration challenges.
  • Expert background in at least one or two vertical industries such as, Financial Services, Government, Logistics, Healthcare and/ or Hi-tech manufacturing Finance
  • Demonstrated proficiency with all programming languages “built into” TIBCO products, including, but not limited to XPATH and XML
  • Demonstrated proficiency in JMS, EJB, SQL, JAVA, XML and HTML
  • Strong working knowledge of UNIX and NT operating systems
  • Familiarity with application servers, EJBs, JSP and Servlets
  • Familiarity with .NET and Web Services Concepts
  • Understanding of Network design and operation and performance tuning
  • Experience with Systems Management software
  • Solid background in system performance analysis and capacity planning
  • Familiarity with OS/390 and AS/400
  • Working knowledge of workflow tools
  • Familiarity with common data models such as OAG
  • Successful deployment of complex, high volume, event-driven TIBCO infrastructure solutions.

Experience and Knowledge

  • Consistently demonstrates leadership skills
  • Successfully leads a large and complex project with 6 or more consultants assigned
  • Delivers compelling and effective presentations internally, as well as to prospects, customers and professional organisations outside of TIBCO.
  • Regularly develops white papers and technology relates articles for publication in trade magazines
  • Actively improves TIBCO methodology

Qualifications

  • BA/ BSc/ MSc – Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field
  • Must be fluent in English
